Insulation problems rarely announce themselves. They show up as comfort complaints people blame on the furnace, and as a gas bill that quietly climbs every winter.

The second floor is a different climate

Hot in August, cold in January, always the opposite of downstairs. That is heat moving through the ceiling plane, not a thermostat that needs adjusting.

Blowing insulation over an unsealed attic floor is the most common mistake in this trade. Warm air keeps moving through the gaps around top plates, wire penetrations, chases and bath fans — it just does it through a thicker blanket now.

We seal the ceiling plane first, then bring the attic up to full depth with even coverage. Baffles keep the soffit vents open so the roof still breathes, and we mark the depth so you can verify what you paid for.

Spray foam

Where foam is the right answer — and where it is not.

Closed-cell foam seals and insulates in one step, which makes it the strongest option for rim joists, knee walls, cathedral ceilings and gut rehabs where the cavities are open and accessible.

It is also more expensive than blown insulation and unnecessary in a standard vented attic. We tell you which assemblies genuinely benefit from foam and which ones will perform just as well for less.

Removal & replacement

Old insulation comes out before new goes in.

Insulation that is matted, contaminated by rodents, water damaged or full of construction debris has stopped doing its job. Adding new material on top of it traps the problem instead of solving it.

We vacuum the attic clean, address whatever caused the damage, sanitize where needed, and install new material on a clean deck. Containment goes up first, and the house stays livable while we work.

Crawl spaces & basements

The floor you never look at is costing you money.

An open crawl space pulls damp, cold ground air straight into the floor system above it. That is cold floors in winter, humidity in summer, and a steady load on equipment that never gets ahead.

A sealed vapor barrier and insulated rim joists cut that off. It is one of the least visible upgrades in a house and one of the most noticeable the first time the weather turns.
